La 44ª edición de SITGES, el Festival Internacional de Cine Fantástico de Catalunya comenzó el pasado 6 de Octubre yseguirá proyectando y valorando películas hasta su clausura que será el domingo 16 de Octubre.
El festival, que se considera como el primer festival de cine fantástico en el mundo gracias a su actividad desde 1968 bajo el nombre de "La 1ª semana Internacional de Cine Fantástico y de Terror", arrancó este año con la proyección de "Eva", el primer largometraje del director Catalán Kike Maíllo y será clausurado por el filme de Matthijs van Heijningen:"La Cosa" (The Thing).
Aunque los ganadores del festival no se revelaran hasta el domingo, podemos informar sobre los premios honoríficos de este año. El Gran Premio Honorífico fue otorgado este año al estadounidense Bryan Singer, director entre otras de "Sospechosos Habituales" o "X-Men", y productor ejecutivo de la serie de Fox "House". Los premios honoríficos "Máquina del Temps" fueron concedidos al director Catalán Jaume Balagueró "(Los sin nombre", "Darkness", "Frágiles" ," [·Rec]"), al actor estadounidense Michael Biehn ("Terminator", "Abyss", "Rampage", "Tombstone", "The Rock"), al cineasta, actor y coreógrafo Hong-Kongiense Ching Siu-Tung ("A Chinese Ghost Story", "Swordman I, II y III", "Héroe") y al actor, productor y guionista canadiense Michael Ironside ("Scanners", "Top Gun", "Desafío total", "Starship Troopers", "El maquinista").
Los premios María Honorífica fueron este año para Bigas Luna, Xavier Pérez, Mar Targarona, Caroline Williams, Gonzalo Suárez y Pedro Olea y el Premio Nosferatu fue a parar a Luigi Cozzi
En cuanto a las películas de la Sección Oficial, abajo publicaremos la lista entera de las películas en competición este año y también la de los filmes fuera del concurso.
